Keyblade Masters pt 40

Chapter 40: Love is in the air.

Xion lay on a bed, having just woken up from being unconscious. She barely had enough energy to think, let alone move. ‘Trying to hold that dragon with telekinesis took more out of me than I thought it would, even with Sora’s help,’ she thought.

She heard footsteps, and then a door opening. She moved her eyes a little bit to see Riku coming toward her. She used her remaining energy to smile a little bit, and he smiled back.

“Well, Xion, I heard you were quite the hero, holding that thrashing dragon steady while Sora took a shot at it. That was brave, but foolish. Even with Sora loaning you his energy, you could have easily drained your life.”

Xion could only lay there as she was being chewed out by Riku, being too tired to even groan.

“However, being a hero sometimes means doing stupid things to save the day. And you excelled in that, Xion.”

Xion weakly said, “Thank you.”

Riku sat next to her on the bed, stroking her back. Xion felt a tingle up her spine as she was being touched by her crush.

But it wasn’t a crush anymore.

“You really have what it takes to be a hero, Xion. I can’t imagine—”

<Oh, just shut up and kiss me.> Xion said to Riku in private telepathy.

Riku chuckled. “As you wish, milady,” he said mockingly, then lay down next to her.

Xion was happy and fearful at the same time. This was a moment she had been waiting for.

Riku turned his face toward hers, put one hand behind her head, then shuffled over and pressed his lips against hers.

Xion was still pretty drained, so she wasn’t able to kiss back with much force. But she did manage to put her arm around him, and he drew her close.

Even though she was a Nobody, and she couldn’t really feel emotions, she felt there was one emotion in the world that everybody felt.

Love.

And she was feeling loved right now, and was loving back.

At last, they parted, still touching at the nose, with Riku nuzzling her affectionately.

“I love you, Xion,” Riku breathed.

“I love you too, Riku. With all my non-existent heart,” Xion replied, which got a chuckle out of Riku.

Sora and his friends were ready to depart. Mulan was still on the wedding trip, so he wouldn’t be able to say goodbye to her. He would have to relay his message through the emperor.

“So, give Mulan my regards, and tell her that I’ll return soon. And tell her that I wish her and captain Shang a happy marriage…”

And he went on for a while, until Kairi stopped him.

How, you might ask?

With a full kiss right on the lips.

As the two of them kissed, The emperor chuckled. “Don’t worry, Sora. I will relay your message to Mulan. I shall have scribes write it down, and I will tell her when she returns.”

Sora drew away from the kiss to say, “Thank you, Your majesty,” before pulling Kairi into a tight embrace.

Roxas chuckled. “Sora, you’re such a romantic.”

Xion giggled. “I know who you’re thinking about, Roxas. You think Namine misses you?”

Again, Roxas chuckled. “Knowing Namine, she’s probably trying to kiss one of her drawings of me, trying to emulate the real thing. But don’t tell her I said that. Besides, you’re one to talk, seeing as you’re not single anymore.”

Xion blushed. “I know. Isn’t it strange that even though Nobodies have no emotions, we all know what its like to be loved now?”

“Yeah, it is pretty amazing. And Xion, from now on, we’re known as ‘Others’. Nobodies is so derogatory.”

Xion grinned. “Others, eh? Has a nice ring to it.”

Sora and Kairi were still hugging, and this went on for a while until Riku forcibly separated them.

“Okay, lovebirds, I think the emperor has better things to do than watch a brunette and a red-head show their affection in front of him. You can resume this once we get back to the Gummi ship, assuming Sora’s going to let ME drive for once.”

Sora chuckled, then said “Not in a million years. Besides, wouldn’t you snuggle with Xion while I drive?”

Riku also chuckled, then said, “You’ve got a point…”

And together, with all of them holding hands with someone of the opposite gender, they entered the ring of light, and went back to the Gummi ship.
